L’artiste allemand Chris Bierl séjourne à la Villa Arson du 5 octobre au 20 décembre 2015.
Chris Bierl est né en 1980, vit et travaille à Berlin et à Leipzig (Allemagne).
La pratique artistique de Chris Bierl se caractérise essentiellement par des installations formelles précises et spatiales, qui incluent des matières organiques aussi bien qu’industrielles, impliquant parfois des êtres et le multimédia. Chris Bierl est orienté vers la connaissance et examine à travers ses dispositifs multipartites scientifiques, des théories souvent hypothétiques.
Il a étudié l’informatique et l’architecture à l’Université Technique de Munich, complété par un diplôme en design photographique à l’Université des Sciences Appliquées de Munich et a obtenu un post-diplôme à l’Académie d’Arts visuels à Leipzig. Il a initié et co-organisé l’exposition « For Whatever Is Repugnant To The Laws Of The Intellect And The Reason, Is Of Course Impossible » à la Kunsthaus Meinblau and Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) à Berlin dans il a co-réalisé une publication en deux parties sur le thème de la production de connaissance dans les arts.
Ses œuvres ont été exposées en Allemagne, en France, aux USA, en Slovénie et en Macédoine dans des institutions comme Syker Vorwerk, Galerie Eigen+Art Leipzig, Kunst-und Wunderkammer, une coopération de Nouvelle Galerie Landshut et le Musée national Bavarois à Munich, le Centre pour les Arts du Livre à New York, Galerija Jakopic Ljubljana, la 3ème biennale de landart de Mongolie et la 14ème Biennale des Jeunes Créateurs d’Europe et Méditerranée à Skopje, parmi d’autres.
Dernièrement, Chris Bierl a été lauréat de la LebensArt-Foundation. En 2015 il répond aux invitations à la Villa Kamogawa à Kyoto et de la Villa Arson à Nice.
Une rencontre/conférence avec Chris Bierl aura lieu à la Villa Arson le mercredi 25 novembre à 18h30 (entrée libre).

Born in 1980, lives and works in Berlin and Leipzig
Chris Bierl’s artistic practice is basically characterized by formally precise and spatial based installations, which include industrial as well as organic materials, sometimes animate beings and multimedia. Bierl is knowledge-oriented and examines within his multipartite arrangements scientific, often hypothetical theories.
Bierl studied computer science and architecture at the Technical University Munich, he completed a Diploma in Photodesign at the Munich University of Applied Sciences and finally postgraduated at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig. He initiated and co-curated the exhibition For Whatever Is Repugnant To The Laws Of The Intellect And The Reason, Is Of Course Impossible at Kunsthaus Meinblau and Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) in Berlin within he co-released a two-part publication on the topic of knowledge production in the arts.
His works were exhibited in Germany, France, USA, Slowenia and Macedonia in institutions such as Syker Vorwerk – Center for Contemporary Art, Gallery Eigen+Art Leipzig, Kunst- und Wunderkammer revisited – a cooperation of New Gallery Landshut and the Bavarian National Museum Munich, the Center for Book Arts New York, Galerija Jakopic Ljubljana, 3rd LandArt Biennial Mongolia and 14ème Biennale des Jeunes Créateurs d’Europe et de la Méditerranée in Skopje amongst others.
Last Bierl was awarded by LebensArt-Foundation, a funding purchase of the ‚Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen’, the artists grant of the state Schleswig-Holstein and the JungArt prize Berlin. In 2015 he will follow the invitations to Villa Kamogawa in Kyoto and Villa Arson in Nice.
