Marielle Chabal (FR), is a current artist in resident at AiR Sandnes.
Marielle Chabal is a writer, an inventor of dystopian dark fairy tale that is defined with visual forms. The showcase of her work is based on storytelling, with a lot of staging and a lot of action. Her work is developed in a kind of consortium. Each project being fiction, installations, sculptures, videos, performance, audio, concerts, or any other form that seem adequate and relevant for the development of the universe. The work is a representation of all that is inspired by the fiction, every anecdotes and scenes being developed towards developing the story. Her work is primarily for a spectator. Not a passive onlooker or a walker, but a spectator – the one who immerses into the spectacle. It is through her journeys (Japan, India, Mexico, USA, Norway) that Marielle Chabal derives stories in stories by revealing by fragments the elements that constitutes her universe.
