The Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain is happy to bring this exciting information to your attention :
The Tara Expeditions Foundation has launched a call for artists in residence for its next expedition: Tara PACIFIC (2016-2018)
After having accomplished 10 scientific expeditions in the last 12 years, to study and understand the impacts of climate change and the ecological crisis on the oceans, the Tara Expeditions Foundation will set sail again for a two-year expedition across the Pacific Ocean leaving May 28th from Lorient, France. This upcoming expedition will focus on the evolution of coral reefs and their adaptation to climate change.
agnès b., co-founder and sponsor of Tara Expeditions, but also gallery owner, designer and collector for 40 years, supports artists through her Galerie du Jour in Paris and her art collection. Therefore, The Tara Expeditions Foundation regularly invites artists aboard the schooner for residencies and is convinced that the presence of artists on board is an innovative and relevant way to raise public awareness about the environment.
The 8 selected artists will join the schooner for a month’s residency aboard. agnès b. and Tara Expeditions have invited Hervé Chandès, Director of the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, along side Lauranne Germond, co-founder of COAL and Hugo Vitrani, journalist & curator to join this year’s jury.
The Tara Expeditions Foundation will host the artists aboard but will not be able to cover the travel and production costs.
Any kind of art is welcomed. The outcome of the residencies will be a group exhibition of works produced during or just after the expedition.
Artists are invited to submit their projects before April 24, 2016.
To submit your project, please fill out the form here.
